A film review: Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights
Dirty Dancing: Havana
Nights is an American musical romance film. It was directed by Guy Ferland in
2004. The plot is based on a true story of JoAnn Jansen. The movie is very
similar to the Dirty Dancing movie, which was made in 1987. It is a love story
about Katey Miller (Romola Garai) and Javier Suarez (Diego Luna) in Cuba during
the Cuban Revolution.
Katey is a senior high-school student, but she has to migrate with her
family to Cuba because of her father's job. She gets into an elite band, but
isn't interested in their sniffy talks. After her "friends" put a
Cuban waiter to shame, she goes to ask for pardon. Her adventure starts with
this meeting. Katey would like to learn to dance, and Javier, the waiter guy
helps her. They enter for a competition, and as they prepare for this, they
fall in love with each other.
Dance is the main theme in the film. The sensual Latin dance flavoured with free moves and romance gives the viewer the creeps. The two youngsters are stormed by hormones, and the bookworm Katey is faced with the power of dance and seduction. They experience freedom together during the Cuban Revolution. It’s very interesting that Patrick Swayze, the star of the first Dirty Dancing film is the dance teacher, who helps Katey a lot.

The music is
mostly Spanish, the English isn’t
ignored either. I think, the music selection is absolutely fantastic and
related to the topic. The photography is also very lovely, imagine: the
cheerful and soft coloures of the Cuban buildings and streets...Moreover,
Katey's strongly civil parents go against the friendship. At the end of the
film, the Miller family should go back to the U.S.A, which means, she will never
meet Javier again. But she doesn't regret anything she did.
This part of their life shows how important it is to be yourself, try new things and bravely take up the thrill,
while you are young. I fell in love with this film the very first time I was
watching it, because I totally agree with its main topic, how sensual dance can
be between man and woman.

HW: A formal letter
The local authorities have recently released
plans to build a new office complex on fields near your home.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to complain about your
plan of to establish a new office
complex on the "Blossom-field" on the confines of the city next year.
I live near this field, actually in one of the houses opposite. I think, I have
the right to comment on this decision as a neighbour.
First of all, I find the plan illegal. Despite the fact that the field
is not my land, it belongs to my environment. There are not many houses in the
neighbourhood, but its calmness and natural beauty is important for all of us
living there. A new, modern huge building would ruin the surrounding.
Secondly, the creation of this new complex would have consequences as
well. The employees would make noise every day with their cars, not to mention the
air pollution caused by the frequent traffic.
Furthermore, the field is also a home of many animals and plants. For
example, a permanent inhabitant, the shrew-mouse is a protected species.
Destroying their habitat would kill a whole population, which is an indictable
offence.
In conclusion, I hope you will consider finding some other place to establish
the complex, and take notice of the
objections of the tenants in this area.
Yours faithfully,

My nature friendship - thanks to my parents
If I think over it, I did not really have any summer holidays with my parents. I mean, we have never traveled together to the seaside, for example. Never have I ever gone to another country or for a long journey with them. Well, I would not say it is such a wrong thing. Instead of staying here, I made the Mother Nature my friend by their help. :)
But what happened to my forceful parents? My siblings started university in Hungary, worked...and moved there. My parents started to grow older, and in my opinion, they would like to relax. I always egg them to travel and go somewhere together. No effect. My brother and me are in the age of spring and would like to spin! But since some years we don't go together. I ask my parents very often to go somewhere. Oh, come on! :)
What are the advantages and disadvantages of going with parents on a holiday?
To start with, I used to go camping many times with my parents, when I was a child. Dad was the scoutmaster in my village for many years. It means, I have been in nature since I was born. It was long ago, but I loved it!
Scouting was one of the most effective part of my life. My parents used to set up a lots of camps and trips every year in the nature. It was the most beautiful world...with tales, magic, witches, wizards, the camp-fire... In addition, it was outside, mainly in the forest. So as a child, I believed everything! Their wise words, patience, love for the children and nature made the atmosphere and the band awesome.
Furthermore, except from scouting, we used to visit the Szelevényi-forest. My family just sat on the car and dad drove it to the Szelevényi-csárda. It is a very popular jerry in the middle of the wood, because Rózsa Sándor, the highwayman had appeared there many times. It was a huge adventure for a little child! :) To visit that place and waiting for him to pop up out of the trees.
Since I have became a teenager, I do not enjoy that way travelling with my parents. The space grew between us, and we can not make these kind of trips as before. I better like to go out with my friends, to meet new people and form my social life. I like to border my own rights and limits. :)

My lover, Dorian Gray (HW: Oscar Wilde, The picture of Dorian Gray)
When the young, beautiful Dorian Gray popped into my, Basil Hallward's house and asked me to make him a favor, I immediately started it. He put a spell over me. He was a masterpiece! When I finished, I realized...the perfect face and body of Dorian doesn't allow me to let him go. So he must have stayed with me.
Once, when I was with him, a man came to my house and claimed: Dorian Gray is his double. I didn't denied the fact, but I was sure, Dorian Gray was nicer. Then he took away him from me. I couldn't go against that, because Dorian was smiling in the man's face, too. Despite the fact that I was everything to him, he left me and went with the guy. I wasn't sure about I could see him again...The man grabbed the picture and stepped out of my house with my lover. Dorian Gray was still in the same position...didn't move. Just smiling and looked into the nothing.

It's a mistery...!
Let's look at the inmost questions of life:
1. How can airplanes fly? Well, as we know, these flying machines are huge and heavy mechanisms. How can they challange the order of physic? How can they fly?
The air isn't empty, the pressure helps the airplane to get in the atmosphere. When the speed of the airplane is enough high, the pilot can take-off the aircraft helping by the wings. The lift force makes it possible to fly an airplane. The turbines under the wings heat the air, which help to get it faster.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bv3m57u6ViE
2. I'd like to know what are the Northern Lights
Electrons and protons from the sun are blown towards the earth on the 'solar wind'. Those look mysterious lights in the north and south pole of the Earth. The collisions of gas molecules generate this dancing magic.
The lights are named "Aurora borealis" in the north and "Aurora australis" in the south.
The lights of the Aurora generally extend from 80 kilometres to as high as 640 kilometres above the earth's surface.

To be continued...if I get some new ideas. :)

If I had an alterego...
If I had an alter-ego, I would be as liberal as I can. I would go to party often, be very brave and selfish. I wouldn't think over that should I really do that? If someone annoyed me, I would just imprint a cake in that idiot's face. I would beguille as much men as I can. I would be a philanderer. I would steal money from the rich and give it to the poor. What I kept, I would buy expensive things. I would go shopping more often. I would gladly demonstrate in a state of nature with Greenpeace and for animals. If I made any mistakes, I would choose another alter-ego.
I'm not very sure of that we can absolutely say it's already spring. There haven't ever been snow in the end of March and in April yet, since I've lived. It's started to melt, but this kind of weather changing is not healthy for the nature.
I miss some things now, what is really connected to spring.
Firstly, as the temperature gets better, the nature starts to reborn. It's a beautiful procedure. When you see how the trees sprit, flowering, the birds singing. It's time for woods, too... :)
I can start sport and I am fitter. Biking, dance, walking outside! Get ready, get set, go! :)

Success is...?
“Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door. ”
― Coco Chanel -
So, what I feel blessed about? I wouldn't say I am so brave to override everything for the purpose of what I absolutely want to be done. I often turn over my targets first: Am I able to achieve it or not? But you know what? It's not the best way of getting successful.
If an idea comes suddenly to my mind, and don't think about what will happen if it ends in smoke, then I...well, I'm the man of action! I feel that I'm a knight, I can save the kingdom, fight the dragon! But sometimes, the dragon scorches me and I became sure about that I'm the biggest loser. But if my plan is achieving, I feel harmony.
I'm not sensible about getting negative criticism in something. Or maybe just when I had been sure that I did that very precisely and if it comes as a stifler. I like it if the the criticizer tells me how I can correct. It's very important. Don't criticize without telling the person what you don't agree with him/her about!
I feel success, when I gain my end. To have self-confidence and be brave is the most comforting feeling, which is hard to achieve. Yeah, success isn't free. Damn it.

What does success mean? "Success is an achievement of an action within a specified perif...ds...kkrh holfdjsp..." Success is the goal of life. Every little actions' outcomes, which results make you feel like the luckiest person in the Earth, is success.
Why do we live? What should we do in our life? It's the most interesting question in this world, which nobody can answer. But I am sure, that everybody has another aims and people are happy about another happenings. NO ONE IS THE SAME PERSON.

The only way to cut crime in our country is to make punishment more severe
As the world
changing and going toward, still human is the only creature who can knowingly crime. We
are legislating our rules and limiting our borders in order to live in harmony
in our planet. Just we can take care about our own atmosphere and nature. But
there are not any people all over the world who is thinking in the same way. That
is, what causes a lots of trouble, because we are not get on well with the rules
and getting to break with them.
In my opinion,
the most common crimes in Serbia are because of the poverty and general crisis.
Shoplifting and theft are happened daily. Government can not insure people job, due to
this, they do not have money, can not maintain their families and begin to steal (in
better case). But maybe someone does it for another reason.
Sad to say, but domestic violence also takes place in our country such as drug dealing or rapism.
Then what could we do? How to stop crime? Death penalty in Serbia is forbidden. Many people agree with that and are against capital punishment, because they think it is also a murder by the government. The most popular and the easiest penalty is to inflict a fine on criminal acted people. But this is just a "soft sentence". Another sentence is imprisonment. It is strongly felt by many people that the best way to make the streets safe is the latter. The problem is that some places so much money has been spent on prisons, consequently, the easiest way for some poor people to get "home" is to make a crime. The another complication is the fullness of prisons. What to do with the waiting criminals? There are arguments against the police, too. In some little villages, there are not any policemen, so the crime could be get abroad. Mostly old people are the victims, because they are slow and can not protect themselves. There are complains about these kind of actions, but nobody can do anything to stop it, if there are no policemen in little villages. For example, gypsies are living in three areas in my small town. Nobody knows how did that happen, how did they become savage and what caused their proclivity on violence. Many people agree with that they are coming here from everywhere because they get in this communality the much social aid in Serbia. Students have been terrorized in the school, mugging has happened as well often as vandalism since many years. People are afraid of doing against this situation, because of the gypsies threats. I had been coming home once at night and walking beside a gypsy group. One of them had jumped at me and started to fight, despite the fact that I had not done anything before. It happened front of my house. This kind of things happen often in this town. Police do not do anything. When they tried, commando from Subotica had to be called out to the scene.
What about drug dealing? It is a more psychological case. Despite the fact that drugging is banned, a lots of people (unfortunately from the youth) use those essences.

I think, to stop crime in our country would be a difficult and long procedure. Firstly, convicts should be obligated to make public work. So, government would not have to pay workers. Secondly, more jobs should be lent. Equality between all the nations in Serbia is important, what doesn't work nowadays. Government should check regularly the situation and administration of the areas of Vojvodina and refresh the police, clamp down on bill of right. More people should chose police and military career. Politics should not spend money on their campaign, but reconstruct the whole country!
I hope, government will return to reason and realize what happens all over the world.

My opinion on blogging
![]() |
| Taras Loboda, Silvia, 2005. |
Blogging for the purpose of practicing English: Blogging is a creative way of inspiring ourselves to look for new worlds, memorize them and develop our writing skills.
It is really good in blogging that I don't care about what another people will think about me. I can be honest in borders, of course.
My problems/difficulties in blogging are: THE LACK OF TIME, no internet connection in students' home, uninteresting homework topics, what about I don't have idea
My expectations for the following month: I'm curious about the opinions of strangers. Maybe it'd be good, if the class get ahold of foreigner classes are in the same project as we, and share our ideas with each other. It would be more interesting if blogging were more intensive.
My plans for the following month: I'd like to go on, and continue my work, write on my own.
Funny Valentine messages
Valentine's day is the same for me like the another 365 day in the year. I'm not excited about showing much love and exhibitionism for another that day. If you have a lover, maybe you should't just celebrate that day, you should be as kind with him/her another times, too. Yeah, that's what comes to my mind at first.
But despite these bad examples, there are lovers, who celebrate this day in "reality" and it's just a day when they really take care about each other and expend time on each other.
To sum up, Valentine's day isn't really appreciable for me.

Rivers, lakes, wetlands: could water become the world's biggest market?
The lack of healthy water have started to became the newest environmental problem in our planet. We have to admit: the world's water resources are in danger.
But thanks for God, there are some global actions, which is trying to release this problem. Companies around the world give money for communities for helping them do against running off of healthy water. According to the website Ecosystem Marketplace, if we use water right, we can make benefit of it. This site promotes the project, and successfully, the movements doubled in the last few years. The project grew popular in down-stream cities, where the pollution of water should be given up at first. China is the leading country, but Romania, Malawi and Ghana make great measures, too.
The target is to make a "green economy", get water more valuable by environmental efforts.
Despite the fact that market-based approaches have grown bigger by the time, somebody thinks to put up nature for sale isn't a trusty way and it would make some effects on food security. They declare, it doesn't take account of other social problems like poverty and gender inequality. Governments need evidences that these actions are doing good. Is it either a good way to save our resources paying to save our vital needs?
I would give a prize for this project. People bow to the disasters and the lacking of our needs. BUT, the only way of getting rid of these kind of catastrophes is to go together. Nobody knows what to do, how to make an effort. Firstly, people should look around and don't wait for another. Secondly, the government should make something against social and environmental problems. We should start at our place and try to live carefully and healthy and be kind to people and nature, too. :)

To be or not to be? Finding destiny.
The story of "outlander" Hungarians began with the "Treaty (!)" of Trianon in 1920. The Hungarian Kingdom was cut and the areas were distributed to another countries like Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, etc. Maybe they didn't realize how big effect was made on Hungary. To divorce a nation! I think, the most powerful change still exists in people hearts. Belonging to a fellowship is important, because everybody has the right to not be alone. Because human is a genre which can't be lonely. We aren't fair honored by either Serbians nor Hungarians. But is solution to go away? I feel that people in Vojvodina are often in bad mood, the employment, poverty and puzzlement changed the spirit of this world. Money, money...
But what's about being eliminated? Some people always say that we must accept the destiny we've got. I am against that. I can't accept immobility, which is typical here and wait to happen something. I just soak up easily the negativism, but it's very important to me to have a harmonic world around me. I really want to find my way by this time.
I HATE TO SIT TIGHT AND DO NOTHING! -.-

World Event Highlights in 2012
The year 2012 was full of newnesses. In the end of the year we outlive an apocalypse, but I am not sure it was as appreciable in the invention's sphere as e.g. 2007 ("the age of" IPhone). The Olympics was staged in summer in London. Natural disasters soured people's life, we made for ourselves and built our planet, buggered each other around by insincerities. Still no change.
Things influenced the world:
- Felix Baumgartner set the world record for skydiving in 15 March 2012. This brave Australian guy jumped out of a capsule from 39 kms high. "The Man of the Year" fell 3:43 minutes before opening his parachute and reached the speed of 580 kms/h.
- Tokyo Skytree opened in 22 May 2012. The tower is the second highest building in the world after the skytower in Dubai with its 634 m height. The project started in 2008, but finally just ended in 2012. The investment is together 806 million USD.
- "I Will If You Will". In 2007, a great idea was achieved in Sidney, Australia. The environmental project named Earth Hour is a world-wide activist program now. Since that 6, 950 cities and 152 countries switch of their lights for an hour in the day 23th March. It reached 7001 cities. For more informations look at: http://www.earthhour.org/blog/look-back-2012-earth-hour
- Who haven't heard about the "Gangnam Style Burst"? A South Korean rapper stirred the world with his song. Since 15 July, more than 1 billion people watched at the video in Youtube and a lot of imitations was uploaded in the internet. Parodies are popular, too.
- I have to mention the biggest fake in the year, what is about the end of the world. According to the Maya Calendar, the Earth had to be robbed or destroyed in 21 December. I don't know whom is the origin of this idea, but it made a huge effect on the world. Some people killed himself or herself, because they were afraid. The another gave away their goods...so it was a perfect attack against naive people by the craft. A number of persons apprehended it as a joke and celebrated it. :) We alived.

My Ideal NYE
To be honest, I am not really in these kind of big celebrations. I think it is unnecessary to spend a lot of money for huge parties, because of trying to keep yourself to the social expectations. Somebody likes to go on the bend, but I am not sure it's right to me. I mean, I feel better if I am with people are close to me, it gives me a safe feeling. I am a bit afraid of being in public place where great fireworks, firecrackers, people painting the town red... Ok, sometimes it's good to make something crazy in my own way, but don't have to do wild things just because it is NYE. "Keep to the borders, dearie..." Or is it about making new things? Maybe. You can go on the bend another days too, don't have to be that NYE. But I am sure, your new year will be that as you start it. :)
I dream about these kind of NYE celebrations:
1. WITH SOME CLOSE FRIENDS. We would go to a little Irish pub, which we rent for that night. Singing karaoke, playing songs, talking and enjoy life between us. There could be crazy as honestly as I want. We would make the food ourselves. The decoration would be cute, mistletoe and candles, nothing nerve-wracking twinkles. The furniture in that pub would be old-timer. Yeah, if I brought all of my friends with me to Ireland for this party, everybody would see some green in my eyes. :)
2. RETRO-PARTY. My second dream is about going to a cultivated party where dressing in '80s style is obligated. It would be funny, wouldn't it? Rock'n roll music would make the feeling if you were in the movie Grease. People would dancing like John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. But it's not a bad idea either to be invited to a Dirty Dancing party and be amused by the "Time of my life..." song. Hm, I would gladly dance with Patrick Swayze, if it were possible.
3. HUNGARIAN DANCE-HALL. Dance is very important for me, because it's the only thing I gladly sport beside enjoying it. It's a huge tradition between Hungarian people to make these kind of "balls", where our great-great parents' old music and dance again and again resuscitate. It's amazing, believe me! So, here you can meet new people, boys and girls, dance to dawn.

French Toast Experiment
I love to test new recipes and see how it tastes to my family or friends. I like cooking, while I'm making this activity, I feel excited because I can give something for another people. I can't really explain, but it's kind of thing when you give a present to somebody. I made French toast at first time for dinner yesterday. I think, the product was good for a beginner! There's no much ingredients needed, so it's easy and fast to make. In addition, very delicious. I often use Pinterest, where many recipes are pinned and it's funny to try them. :)

Account of the Last Year or Personal Highlights of 2012
2012 was the year when I really felt that I'm going older. I mean, I was surprised on my birthday when I realized that yeah, I am already 17. Next year, I'm an adult. I have really to start thinking about what I wanna do in my life.
I think, to make your life memorable, you have to be brave and do much for yourself. It's difficult to feel the weight of things which are good for you, but not bad for anothers, or reverse. If you have to take a course of action, you must be thoughtful of anothers, but you shouldn't be naked, of course. It's hard to find the border between them, isn't it? :) There are another blocks too, for example money, surrounding, etc.

The first thing I am proud of are the dance events of 2012. I am a Hungarian folk-dancer since my childhood, and this hobby is very important to me. I was able to get to the National Táncház Festival and Fair in Hungary in April. It was in the heart of the Carpathian basin, in Budapest. I have been to a dance camp in summer. I competed two times in Vojvodina last year, too. It was awesome to be with people more often who are in this campaign.
Secondly, I decided what I am going to do in my life. I forget all about my last dreams (to be a doctor or hunter like Lara Croft :D). I realized that I must to stay in reality. (Damn it.)
If you think of it, money is very important nowadays. It's too important. Some people chose a job, which he or she doesn't really like to. Why can't people do what they really want to? Why should become resigned to something? People, who don't like their job and can't enjoy what they are working, just fracture his or her own health and starts to be dissatisfied with life. I know how difficult is to find a whether good job, or just a job. Whose mistake and responsibility is to allow people to be happy? Their own or the government should make the folk sure of employement? It will never be in balance.
So, my decision is that I'll be a chef, which is shortage of professionals (in foreign countries).
Hm. I have much plans for this new year. But I think, I can contentendly tell 2012 good-bye, and meet 2013. Nice to meet you :).
Tami kuckója, don't forget our new year-vow! Gymnastic is important! :)
