I've watched an animated cartoon today named Lorax (by Dr. Seuss). It was one of the best environmental movies I have ever seen.
 |
| Lorax, the keeper of trees. |
The story is about a little boy, who wants to get a seed of tree which hadn't been seen since years. He lives in an "isolated" city, where everythig goes right...but there AREN'T ANY TREES in that place. So, he escapes often from this "jail" and visits a man outside who tells him the story of destroying forests.
I'm interested about environmentalism, so I was very excited while watching this movie. It shows a perfect presentation about how sneaky and selfish way we destroy our nature. Many people don't know how important forests are. Because trees:
- PRODUCE OXYGEN FOR US. Did you know that "a mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year?" (Arbor Day Foundation) They are also important filters, that cleans the air.
- GIVE SHADE AND CALM.
- CONTROL NATURAL (AND ANOTHER) DIASTERS. (flooding, noise pollution, etc.)
- INCREASE THE VALUE OF AN AREA.

| 15 square kms of rain forests disappear every minutes. |
In fine, here is a quoute from the awesome Dr. Seuss. Think about it! :)
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better. It's not."
